Questionable activity.

So I got out cycling yesterday. Boy did it feel good to get some wheels under me and just go out for a leisurely ride. An hour was all I allowed myself as I didn't want to push the hip and groin too far. And I must admit, the cycling in and of itself did not bother my hip one bit. I dropped the gears to a nice easy spin so I wasn't pushing too hard and I made light work of a 20km ride.

The weather was ideal, but once again a bit cold on the ears. Still haven't gotten a thin beanie that will fit under the helmet and I made up my own version of compression socks and wore my daughter's stripped knee highs under my cycling tights - stunning, but my legs were kept warm atleast. I have found a nice new loop to do which is 9km and although it is own a useable road the traffic is extremely tolerable. There are only a few hills but nothing major and the majority is flat even roads.

So after the cycling and testing out the old hip, I would say I felt pretty good that is until this morning. I am not quite sure if my pain is all bone related - I feel like it is muscle related as well. My hamstring, glute and abbductors are aching. Have to ring physio this morning and see what the go is. When I bend forward I get pain just under my right butt cheek and it goes straight into my inner right leg and down to my knee - like I can feel my muscles move and they don't like it.

What do you do, if life was all smooth sailing it would get boring.

  1. This is definitely the opposite of smooth sailing, good to hear you are remaining upbeat. Interesting that you had the problem the next day.

  2. Kovas: it was a little twingy last night before bed but I woke up this morning with a very tight and achey butt and hamstring. If I didn't stay upbeat I think I would curl up into a ball and cry right about NOW. But that won't solve anything. I just have to get through it.

  3. Hope it all clears up quickly. Glad you at least got the ride in. One thought--is your bike fit just right?

  4. misszippy: thanks for that. I had my bike fitted when I bought it. Not quite sure what's going on but waiting on return phone call from physio.

  5. stay positive, you have come on quick and you are bound to find a few new aches and muscles! if you have one close by, consider seeing an osteopath as well. They have done wonders for me in the past. Good to hear the ride went well!

  6. misszippy: Just came back from physio, you were right. It was the seat and how I was sitting on it, I have an irritated bursa. Just another thing to add to the collection :)

Skierz: Will do, thanks. The ride itself was beautiful but I think I sat on my seat wrong.

  7. Sorry at the party a little late, bike fit is what I thought, glad that's what it seems to be, easy enough to adjust.

  8. Patrick: Everytime I think I understand this sport and my body, something else crops up. It likes keeping me on my toes. :)

  10. LOL Jim, I dont think she has got her new one yet

Cycling is highly recommended for injuries do the low impact stress it involves

I think I agree with you that it is not about bones but maybe muscle related

I am so happy you have stopped by. You have made my day.

Your hard work will be rewarded.
